Agronomist

About the role

GBfoods Africa is seeking an Agronomist to join its block farming project in Ghana. Reporting to the Senior Agronomist, you will work directly with local farmers to boost crop yields, improve soil health, and increase farmer incomes through scientific agronomic support.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in crop production, soil control, and soil management activities.
• Identify and implement strategies to maximize crop output per unit of land.
• Design and conduct experiments to optimize plant nutrition and soil health.
• Perform laboratory analyses of soil, seed, and crop samples and present findings.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building training to participating farmers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture; a Master’s in Agriculture (soil science) is a plus.
• Minimum three years of experience as an agronomist.
• Strong knowledge of soil and crop science principles.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in Wolof.
• Ability to engage with local communities and build relationships with farmers.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
