Global Technical Lead – Decent Work & Social Protection

About the role

Sightsavers is seeking a Global Technical Lead to shape and oversee programmes that promote decent work, labour rights and social protection for people with disabilities across several countries in Africa and South Asia. The role combines strategic design, technical guidance and partnership building to ensure inclusive, evidence‑based interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and technical oversight of decent work and social protection programmes.
• Provide expert guidance to country teams, ensuring alignment with best practice and emerging evidence.
• Build and strengthen relationships with trade unions, worker organisations and social protection stakeholders.
• Support partnerships between organisations of people with disabilities (OPDs) and labour movement actors.
• Develop and deliver training and capacity‑building activities for staff and partners.
• Identify and secure strategic funding opportunities in collaboration with fundraising teams.
• Develop tools, guidance and learning materials to support programme delivery across countries.
• Contribute to research, policy, advocacy and communications to enhance Sightsavers’ influence.
• Represent Sightsavers at global, regional and national forums.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading programmes in decent work, labour rights or social protection, preferably in the Global South.
• Strong understanding of current debates and trends in labour rights, informal economies and social protection systems.
• Proven ability to build partnerships and influence stakeholders at different levels.
• Experience securing or contributing to funding proposals.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and communication skills.
• Commitment to disability inclusion, equality and social justice.
