IT Network Specialist – Fixed Term

About the role

The IT Network Specialist is a high‑level, fixed‑term position focused on designing, implementing and maintaining a private LTE/5G wireless ecosystem for a complex mining environment. The role ensures optimal network performance for critical applications such as Wenco Fleet Management System (FMS) and autonomous haulage systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and deploy private LTE/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) and Core Network across surface and underground mining sites.
• Conduct RF planning, propagation analysis and site surveys to achieve required coverage, capacity and QoS.
• Install, commission and integrate eNodeBs/gNodeBs, core network elements and transport infrastructure (fiber, microwave).
• Monitor network health, performance and security 24/7, performing fault detection and resolution.
• Execute routine maintenance, software upgrades and patch management on all network components.
• Develop and maintain documentation, topology maps, configurations and Method of Procedures (MOPs).
• Prioritise and optimise traffic to meet ultra‑low latency and reliability requirements for Wenco FMS, AHS and other mission‑critical applications.
• Implement QoS policies and 5G network slicing to satisfy service level agreements.
• Collaborate with the FMS team to ensure seamless connectivity for mining equipment and integrate new IoT, video surveillance and safety wearables.

Required profile

• Proven experience with private LTE/5G network design and deployment in challenging environments.
• Strong knowledge of RF planning, propagation modelling and site survey techniques.
• Hands‑on expertise in installing and commissioning eNodeBs/gNodeBs, core network and transport (fiber, microwave).
• Ability to monitor, troubleshoot and maintain network performance 24/7.
• Experience supporting critical industrial applications such as fleet management and autonomous systems.
• Familiarity with safety and environmental compliance procedures in mining operations.
