Mine Director

About the role

The client is a leading provider of integrated mining, industrial construction, and infrastructure solutions in West Africa. They are seeking an experienced Mine Director to lead their active mining operation in Senegal on an 8/3 or 6/2 rotation schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the senior site team across Mining, Maintenance, HSE, Surveys, HR, and Project departments.
• Set priorities, ensure accountability, and drive safe, reliable, and efficient mining operations.
• Coordinate production, equipment availability, dewatering, earthworks, drilling/blasting interfaces, and day‑to‑day site priorities.
• Strengthen site governance, reporting, cross‑functional coordination, safety culture, and continuous improvement.
• Drive cost discipline, productivity, and resource efficiency while overseeing budget, P&L, and KPIs.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on senior mining operations experience, preferably in open‑pit environments in West Africa.
• Proven track record managing large mobile equipment fleets and multidisciplinary site teams.
• Strong HSE awareness and management capability.
• Experience in drilling & blasting, mine infrastructure/earthworks, and local workforce development.
• Excellent communication skills in both French and English.
