Senior Officer, Supply Chain

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking a Senior Officer, Supply Chain to lead regional logistics for Africa. Based in Dakar, the role bridges programmes and operations to ensure humanitarian assistance is delivered efficiently before, during and after emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and operational support for the movement of humanitarian goods across the African region.
• Act as the focal point for air, sea and road transportation, freight forwarding, import and export processes, and customs facilitation for IFRC offices and National Societies.
• Ensure compliance with IFRC policies, cost‑effectiveness, and timely delivery of supplies.
• Coordinate with regional and headquarters teams, and deploy frequently to support National Red Cross Societies and IFRC programmes.
• Monitor performance of logistics partners and implement improvements to enhance reliability.
• Support the establishment and maintenance of regional supply chain procedures and documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian supply chain or logistics management within Africa.
• Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, customs procedures and multimodal transport.
• Ability to travel regularly and work in diverse field environments.
• Proven capacity to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including IFRC offices and National Societies.
• Strategic and operational understanding of emergency response logistics.
