Deputy Director General – Anti-Money Laundering

About the role

The Inter‑Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering (GIABA) is seeking a Deputy Director General to support the Director General in leading the organization’s anti‑money‑laundering and counter‑terrorist‑financing mission across West Africa. Based in Dakar, the role provides senior political and technical leadership for a four‑year, non‑renewable term.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director General in defining and implementing GIABA’s strategic plan.
• Ensure continuity of operations and represent the Director General during absences.
• Supervise directorates and coordinate activities across regional and international partners.
• Prepare interim and annual reports for ECOWAS authorities.
• Oversee the implementation of the annual work programme and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with counterpart bodies, including ECOWAS, FATF, and other observer organisations.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience at senior management level in the public‑sector or international organisations.
• Deep understanding of anti‑money‑laundering, terrorist financing, and regional regulatory frameworks.
• Strong ability to work with political and technical stakeholders across multiple countries.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
