EHS Auditor

About the role

Tangent International is urgently looking for an EHS Auditor to work on 6-month rolling contracts in Dakar, Senegal. The role is focused on on-site safety inspections, hazard identification and ensuring that field resources follow approved safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily safety inspections on site activities and prepare a report for each visit, together with a monthly accumulated report.
• Check that field resources and drivers' training courses meet the training matrix for each project.
• Identify and report unsafe equipment, unsafe transport (team vehicles), working conditions and practices, and follow up until closed.
• Identify and measure potential safety hazards and define how to complete activities safely.
• Develop and implement TBT as required to raise EHS culture among resources.
• Review onsite checklists, risk assessments, lifting operations, permit-to-work records and car daily inspections, and make sure the required documents and forms are submitted on time.
• Ensure approved safety procedures are followed on site for road safety, work at height, electrical safety, chemical safety, fire safety and crane safety.
• Make sure PPE and OHS tools and equipment are purchased, used, maintained and inspected, and inspect resources' OHS tools and follow up on defects or missing items until they meet the project tools matrix.
• Act as the focal point for OHS communication with field team members.

Required profile

• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Safety Auditor in the telecoms industry.
• SAMTRAC or National Diploma in Safety Management, or NEBOSH, HIRA or W@H training; fall-protection planning; professional registration (SACPCMP).
• Immediate availability to join the project.
