National Project Coordinator – Affirmative Finance

About the role

The National Project Coordinator, Affirmative Finance, will provide strategic, programmatic and technical leadership for the Women’s Economic Empowerment through Affirmative Finance project in Senegal. Reporting to the Head of Women’s Economic Empowerment, the role serves as the technical focal point on women’s entrepreneurship, financial inclusion and affirmative finance, working closely with UN Women teams, partners and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic implementation of the affirmative finance project, ensuring alignment with UN Women’s Strategic Plan, national priorities, the approved workplan and budget.
• Translate regional objectives into a coherent national strategy that addresses the needs of women entrepreneurs and aligns with Senegal’s gender‑equality commitments.
• Oversee annual and quarterly planning, budgeting and execution, prioritising operational feasibility and timely delivery of results.
• Identify and mitigate implementation risks and bottlenecks, proposing corrective actions and coordinating follow‑up with the Country Office, Regional Office and partners.
• Provide high‑level technical advice to government, financial institutions and partners on integrating affirmative finance principles into policies, programmes and financial products.
• Lead design of gender‑responsive financing solutions for women‑led SMEs and coordinate evidence‑based analyses of systemic barriers to finance.
• Produce policy briefs, technical notes and analytical papers to inform policy dialogue, advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
• Establish a results‑based management framework, monitor progress, prepare analytical reports and ensure accountability to donors and UN Women.
