Environment Superintendent

About the role

The Environment Superintendent reports to the HSE Manager and leads the Site Environment Management Plan. This senior position is responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the site, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation, maintenance and improvement of the EMS in line with ISO 14001.
• Identify, assess and manage environmental risks and opportunities for operational and exploration activities.
• Conduct environmental incident investigations, determine root causes and oversee corrective actions.
• Analyse performance data, prepare management reports and recommend improvements.
• Maintain relationships with regulators, local communities, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Prepare quarterly mandatory reports in French for the regulator and monthly reports in English.
• Manage the department budget, monitor costs and oversee staff development plans.
• Validate technical studies and documents required for environmental permitting.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Environmental Science or related field.
• Proven experience leading environmental teams and managing large‑scale environmental programs.
• Strong knowledge of Senegalese environmental legislation and international standards (ISO 14001, IFC, RGMP, ICMC).
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop staff.
• Excellent communication skills in English and French for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
