IT System Specialist – Fixed Term

About the role

The Systems Specialist will ensure the health, performance, and data integrity of the Wencomine Fleet Management System (FMS) and its supporting databases. This fixed‑term position combines advanced SQL development, server administration, and mining‑industry reporting to keep critical operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments, including performance tuning, indexing and capacity planning.
• Develop, optimise and execute complex T‑SQL queries, stored procedures and functions for ad‑hoc requests and system integrations.
• Monitor and troubleshoot ETL processes (SSIS or custom scripts) linking FMS with ERP, maintenance and other enterprise systems.
• Create and maintain standard and custom reports, dashboards and visualisations using SSRS, Power BI and the Wenco Reporting Module.
• Manage Windows Server infrastructure hosting the FMS applications, perform patch management, system health checks and Tier 2/3 support.
• Plan, test and execute software upgrades and patches while minimising impact on 24/7 mining operations.
• Configure core FMS parameters (pit designs, haul routes, equipment profiles) and support integration with GPS/GNSS and other mining technologies.

Required profile

• Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration in an industrial or mining environment.
• Strong background in developing T‑SQL code and building data‑driven reports.
• Hands‑on experience with Windows Server management and Tier 2/3 technical support.
• Ability to translate operational data requirements into scalable reporting solutions.
