Programme Support Intern – Dakar Hub (Sahel & Gulf of Guinea)

About the role

The Programme Support Intern will join the United Nations Development Coordination Office (DCO) Africa Dakar Hub. The internship supports Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams across North, West and Central Africa, focusing on the Sahel and Gulf of Guinea region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on regional political, socio‑economic, humanitarian and development trends.
• Prepare briefing notes, presentations, background papers and meeting summaries.
• Coordinate with Resident Coordinator Offices, UN entities and regional partners.
• Assist in organising workshops, consultations, webinars and regional meetings.
• Track regional initiatives, joint programmes and integrated policy work.
• Support knowledge management, data compilation and the creation of communication materials.
• Follow up on regional priorities related to prevention, resilience, sustainable development and cross‑border cooperation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a graduate programme, in the final year of a bachelor programme, or holder of a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD degree.
• Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Preferred fields of study include International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, Economics, Public Policy, Peace and Conflict Studies or related social sciences.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard software applications, especially the Microsoft Office Suite.
