Senior Underground Mine Planning Engineer

About the role

The Senior Underground Mine Planning Engineer is responsible for creating, maintaining and optimising short‑, medium‑ and long‑term underground mine plans and schedules. The role ensures that planning outputs align with the approved Life of Mine strategy, budget and operational objectives while supporting safe, efficient and cost‑effective underground operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 12‑week rolling plans and weekly schedules that meet budget targets and operational constraints.
• Prepare medium‑term schedules, validate production assumptions and ensure practical, safe execution in partnership with Operations and Technical Services.
• Monitor plan‑versus‑actual performance, identify variances and drive corrective actions.
• Contribute to the Underground Life of Mine plan, perform optimisation analyses and support capital and operating budget preparation.
• Integrate underground development and stope designs, incorporating geotechnical, ventilation and operational constraints.
• Maintain data integrity of planning models, generate regular reports and support reconciliation between design, plan and actual performance.
• Review contractor planning submissions for technical accuracy and flag risks or deviations.

Required profile

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in underground mine planning, preferably with long‑hole open stoping (LHOS) and cemented rockfill (CRF) methods.
• Proven ability to produce and maintain detailed short‑, medium‑ and long‑term mine schedules.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical, ventilation and drill‑and‑blast considerations.
• Excellent analytical skills and a focus on data integrity and reporting.
