Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent

About the role

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Superintendent is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all electrical and instrumentation systems at two gold processing plants – the Sulphide Treatment Plant (STP) and the Whole Ore Leach Plant (WOL). The role leads a multi‑trade E&I workforce, drives maintenance strategy execution and ensures plant availability targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct supervisory leadership to E&I Supervisors, electricians, instrumentation technicians and trades assistants across both plants.
• Set daily, weekly and monthly maintenance priorities aligned with production schedules and availability KPIs.
• Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programmes in the CMMS, including breakdown response and work‑order backlog.
• Plan and execute shutdowns for E&I scope, preparing job packs, material readiness and labour plans.
• Coordinate predictive maintenance activities such as IR thermography, vibration analysis, insulation resistance testing and partial discharge monitoring.
• Oversee calibration programmes for pressure, temperature, flow, level and analytical instrumentation.
• Review and approve maintenance procedures, task lists and work instructions for safety compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising multi‑disciplinary E&I teams in an industrial or mining environment.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, shutdown coordination and reliability‑centered maintenance.
• Ability to work closely with process engineering and operations to minimise production impact.

Required skills

• MV/LV power distribution, HV switchroom operations, transformers and power generators.
• Large drive systems (SAG mills, ball mills) and VFD control.
• DCS/SCADA instrumentation, PID controllers and advanced process control interfaces.
• Safety instrument systems, fire and gas detection, electrowinning and gold‑room electrical systems.
• Reagent dosing, level and flow instrumentation, thickener drives and agitator MCCs.
• IR thermography, vibration analysis, insulation resistance testing, partial discharge monitoring.
• Calibration of pressure, temperature, flow, level and analytical instruments.
• CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) usage.
