Inside Sales Application Engineer

About the role

Cogent, a 100% employee‑owned provider of fluid‑processing solutions, is looking for an Inside Sales Application Engineer to support its outside sales team. The role combines technical expertise with sales coordination to deliver accurate proposals, quotations and product guidance for industrial, municipal and commercial customers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with outside sales to create accurate, competitive technical proposals.
• Review project specifications, drawings and application requirements.
• Prepare detailed submittals, quotations and order documents.
• Source and coordinate vendor quotes for engineered products.
• Provide product data, installation guidance and application knowledge to internal teams.
• Maintain communication across engineering, operations and procurement to meet deadlines.
• Support order entry, invoicing and document control for accuracy and efficiency.
• Deliver value‑added solutions that reduce downtime and improve long‑term cost of ownership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
• Analytical thinker and problem‑solver with a collaborative, customer‑service mindset.
• Self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment.
• Preferred experience in inside sales, applications engineering or technical support, especially with pumps, rotating equipment or fluid‑handling systems, and familiarity with ERP or quoting software.
