Payroll Lead – Francophone Africa

About the role

We are seeking a Payroll Lead to oversee employee taxation, statutory compliance and government liaison across Francophone African countries. The role demands deep knowledge of local payroll legislation, labor law and the ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply payroll legislation, tax, social security and labor regulations in each country.
• Manage statutory registrations, renewals and ensure ongoing compliance.
• Coordinate monthly and annual tax filings, social security declarations and employee tax certificates.
• Monitor legislative changes and update payroll processes accordingly.
• Serve as primary liaison with tax authorities, labor departments and other regulatory bodies, handling inspections and audits.
• Support internal and external payroll audits, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Partner with payroll vendors, Finance, HR, Legal and business units to deliver high‑quality payroll services.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and control.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, Law, Business Administration or related field.
• 8–12 years of payroll and statutory compliance experience, preferably across multiple West African countries.
• Fluent French and strong English communication skills.
• Professional certification in Payroll, Taxation or Labor Law is a plus.
