Rubber-Tyred Gantry Operator

About the role

The Rubber‑Tyred Gantry (RTG) Operator ensures safe and efficient container movements within the terminal yard. You will load, discharge, deliver and transfer containers while keeping accurate position records.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑operation equipment checks and complete check‑lists before, during and after each shift.
• Operate the RTG to move containers according to the traffic dispatcher’s instructions for discharging, loading, export receival, deliveries, housekeeping and transfers.
• Report any equipment failures or safety issues immediately to a supervisor.
• Maintain a clean cabin and ensure safe parking of the RTG, especially in adverse weather.
• Log into the VMT system with personal credentials and update container positions.
• Hand over instructions to the incoming shift and follow all safety, health and hygiene norms.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (graduated).
• At least 3 years of experience operating heavy machinery or trucks (preferred).
• Valid CE driver’s licence.
• Serious, punctual, with strong team spirit, integrity and adaptability.
