West Africa Regional Senior Technical Advisor – STRIDES

About the role

The West Africa Regional Senior Technical Advisor for STRIDES will lead the technical and operational delivery of infectious disease detection systems across the region. Based in Senegal, the advisor works closely with FHI 360 headquarters, local ministries, and international partners to ensure alignment with United States Government health security priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day technical activities and supervise regional technical staff.
• Develop and lead proposals for local and regional initiatives.
• Prepare project, donor, and technical reports and draft publications.
• Lead the creation and revision of best‑practice documents.
• Monitor project budgets and ensure deliverables are on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate with Ministries of Health, district health teams, development partners, and the US State Department mission.
• Collaborate with HQ technical leads and Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning backstops to cascade technical approaches.

Required profile

• Advanced subject‑matter expertise in infectious disease detection and health security.
• Proven experience managing complex, multi‑partner public‑health projects.
• Strong judgment in evaluating complex problems with minimal supervision.
• Ability to provide technical input to senior leadership and influence national guidelines.
• Excellent coordination skills with diverse governmental and non‑governmental stakeholders.
