Assistant Comptable – Accounting Team Lead

About the role

Maersk is seeking an Assistant Comptable to lead and develop a team responsible for critical accounting and financial operations in Dakar. The role offers exposure to global finance processes within a collaborative, multinational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring timely completion of team deliverables.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and invoicing activities.
• Monitor financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Support cost accounting tasks, including cost allocation, analysis and variance reporting.
• Assist in budget preparation, monitoring and reporting to support business performance management.
• Resolve operational issues by applying established processes and selecting appropriate solutions.

Required profile

• Experience in accounting operations, finance, accounts payable or receivable.
• Practical knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, budgeting and cost accounting.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a continuous‑improvement mindset.
• Experience leading or supervising staff, including workload planning and performance support.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with financial systems and reporting tools.
