CAD Design & Welding Apprenticeship

About the role

Uniform Engineering Ltd offers a hands‑on apprenticeship that combines CAD design training with fundamental welding skills. You will work alongside experienced engineers and welders, gaining practical experience in creating engineering drawings and preparing metal components for fabrication.

Key responsibilities

• Learn CAD design principles under the guidance of senior designers.
• Assist in creating and modifying engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Follow established design standards and documentation procedures.
• Learn basic welding fundamentals and safety protocols.
• Assist in preparing metal components and performing simple welds.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment and adhere to all safety regulations.

Required profile

• At least 16 years old and not currently in full‑time education.
• Resident of England.
• Motivated, eager to learn and able to follow instructions.
• Basic computer literacy and an interest in engineering or manufacturing.

Required skills

• Basic proficiency with CAD software.
• Fundamental knowledge of TIG welding techniques.
• Understanding of stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium welding.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Experience with setting up welding equipment and metal preparation.
