Consultant for IKI/CREAF Project Implementation

About the role

BirdLife International is seeking a consultant to support the implementation of the IKI/CREAF project in West Africa. The role will be based in Dakar and will involve close collaboration with national partners, public institutions and other stakeholders to deliver conservation activities along the East Atlantic Flyway.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of project activities as outlined in the project work plan.
• Contribute to capacity‑building for bird monitoring, governance and community management.
• Analyse environmental forms and national waterbird census reports to identify key threats.
• Assist in organising World Migratory Bird Day events, develop village waste‑management plans and integrate climate‑change considerations into national action plans for target species.
• Help implement livelihood‑improvement actions in priority project sites.

Required profile

• University degree in environmental or biological sciences, or an equivalent qualification.
• Excellent written and spoken French and a good basic knowledge of English.
• Strong understanding of field‑based conservation practices and familiarity with West African conservation programmes.
• Ability to work independently, showing initiative, practical approach and motivation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in database management (preferred).
