Crane Junior Electrical Automation Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Electrical Automation Engineer to ensure optimal performance, reliability and safety of container handling equipment such as QC, MHC and RTG cranes. The role involves supervising maintenance, troubleshooting electrical and automation systems, and supporting continuous‑improvement initiatives at a busy terminal.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and monitor preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance tasks using the CMMS, ensuring compliance with DP World engineering policies and HSSE standards.
• Provide 24/7 technical support for crane control systems, including PLCs, drives, HMIs, sensors and related software, and perform root‑cause analysis of breakdowns.
• Mentor technicians and junior engineers, assist with internal training and contribute to lean‑culture activities such as Kaizen and A3 problem solving.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance and spare‑part usage, and report incidents promptly to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with heavy‑industrial or port container handling equipment (e.g., QC, MHC, RTG) and familiarity with DP World safety and engineering procedures.
• Strong analytical mindset, ability to work in shifts and collaborate with reliability and lean teams.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with PLC platforms such as ABB AC500/AC800 and Siemens S7.
• Knowledge of drive systems (ABB ACS/ACS800, Siemens Simotion, Master Drives).
• Proficiency with HMIs, industrial networks, sensors and calibration of load cells.
• Use of diagnostic software, programming tools and CMMS for maintenance planning.
• Root‑cause analysis techniques (RCA, Kaizen, A3) and adherence to HSSE protocols.
