Digital Communication Officer – UNICEF West & Central Africa

About the role

The Digital Communication Officer will support UNICEF West and Central Africa Regional Office’s partnership, communication and advocacy initiatives. Working under the Regional Adviser Partnerships (Public), the officer will develop and implement digital communication strategies and produce engaging online content.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement community engagement strategies aligned with the Regional Agenda for Children.
• Create and manage UNICEF WCARO’s presence on social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and X.
• Produce digital content such as social media cards, videos, webinars and other multimedia assets.
• Monitor and respond to audience interactions, analyse metrics and identify growth opportunities.
• Organise and host virtual events or webinars to engage stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with key influencers and followers to foster advocacy.

Required profile

• University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience managing social media accounts and community management.
• Fluency in French and a strong working knowledge of English.
• Experience in graphic design for digital media is a strong asset.
• Understanding of child rights issues in West and Central Africa is considered an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with social media platforms: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter).
• Experience with graphic design tools (open‑source programs, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro).
• Knowledge of content management and collaboration tools: Drupal, SharePoint, Hootsuite, WeShare.
• Ability to analyse social media metrics and generate performance reports.
• Familiarity with content production software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Canva.
