Infrastructure Engineer Consultant – West Africa

About the role

Q2IMPACT is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer Consultant to ensure that project infrastructure in West Africa is built to approved scope, design specifications, and international best practice, while meeting IFC Performance Standards and EHS guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct desk‑based and field reviews of project documentation, including feasibility studies, technical specifications, and engineering designs.
• Perform site inspections to verify material compliance, structural integrity, and installation requirements.
• Review O&M manuals, maintenance schedules, spare‑parts strategies, and asset‑management plans.
• Assess engineering designs for land acquisition, resettlement, community health and safety, labor conditions, emissions, waste management, and biodiversity impacts.
• Prepare and review IFC Performance Standards compliance checklists and identify environmental and social risks, gaps, and corrective actions.
• Participate in key informant interviews and focus‑group discussions with affected communities, regulators, utilities, and project sponsors.
• Collaborate with environmental, social, and economic specialists to synthesize findings and contribute to technical reports and case studies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental Engineering, Energy Economics, Infrastructure Planning, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of professional experience on infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience applying IFC Performance Standards or World Bank E&S frameworks.
• Experience working in West Africa and familiarity with environmental and social safeguards.
• Proven ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.
