Irrigation Manager – Large‑Scale Oil Palm Plantation (Senegal)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Irrigation Manager to lead irrigation operations across a large‑scale oil palm plantation in Senegal. The role focuses on optimizing water use, maintaining irrigation and drainage infrastructure, and supporting sustainable production.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and implement modern irrigation and drainage systems for plantations of 5,000 ha and above.
• Develop irrigation schedules based on weather, rainfall and soil conditions.
• Manage water sources, reservoirs, pipelines and canals to ensure reliable supply.
• Oversee preventive maintenance of equipment and prevent water‑logging.
• Utilise water and soil moisture monitoring tools and modern irrigation technologies.
• Supervise the irrigation team, contractors and field staff.
• Prepare and manage budgets for irrigation operations and capital projects.
• Collaborate with agronomy and field teams to improve yield performance and ensure compliance with sustainability and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Irrigation, Civil Engineering or related field.
• 7–10 years of experience managing irrigation in oil palm plantations.
• Experience with large‑scale plantations (5,000 ha+) and familiarity with sustainability certifications.
• Ability to work in remote, multicultural environments; good communication in English or French.
• Prior experience in Senegal or other African countries is an advantage.
