Maintenance Technician I – Industrial Laundry Facility

About the role

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for repairing, adjusting, overhauling and performing preventive maintenance on laundry and boiler‑room equipment in an automated commercial laundry facility. The role requires quick and accurate troubleshooting of mechanical and electronic problems, as well as occasional plumbing, carpentry, welding and electrical work.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, repair, modify and install machinery, equipment, pipe and electrical systems according to blueprints, manuals and schematics.
• Dismantle defective machines, replace parts and motors, and adjust feed mechanisms.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication and alignment of shafts, bearings, gears, chain drives, belts and pulleys.
• Operate and test equipment to identify failures, complete start‑up procedures and log work orders.
• Safely operate forklifts and man‑lifts, wear required PPE and follow HAZMAT, EPA and OSHA regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 2‑4 years of related industrial maintenance experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical schematics, block diagrams and flow charts.
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lb, bend, stoop and stand for long periods.
• Computer literacy and basic understanding of PLC principles.

Required skills

• Electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting.
• Welding (including use of a 250 A welding device).
• Forklift and man‑lift operation.
• Knowledge of HAZMAT handling and OSHA safety standards.
