Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning Manager – Africa

About the role

BirdLife International seeks a senior MEAL Manager to lead Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning across its Africa region. You will ensure that conservation projects deliver measurable impact, uphold accountability to communities and donors, and foster a culture of adaptive management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and strengthen regional MEAL frameworks aligned with organisational strategy and donor requirements.
• Integrate MEAL processes into programme design, delivery, and proposal development.
• Oversee digital MEAL platforms, manage consultants, and coordinate working groups.
• Establish data collection, analysis and reporting systems to assess project effectiveness.
• Lead donor reporting, stakeholder feedback mechanisms, safeguarding and compliance.
• Drive organisational learning, produce impact reports and innovative MEAL products.
• Build MEAL capacity across BirdLife and partner organisations through mentoring and communities of practice.
• Support funding proposals with Theory of Change, logframes, budgets and measurement approaches.

Required profile

• Extensive experience designing and delivering MEAL frameworks in conservation, biodiversity or related sectors.
• Proven track record in a regional or managerial role, managing multi‑country MEAL systems.
• Strong knowledge of Results‑Based Management, logframes and Theory of Change.
• Familiarity with major donor requirements (e.g., GEF, IKI).
