Secretariat Director – Health & Nutrition Programme

About the role

The Secretariat Director will lead the CGPP Senegal Secretariat from Dakar, overseeing the implementation of maternal and child health and nutrition (MCHN) programmes across five priority regions. This senior position provides overall technical leadership, ensures alignment with national and global health priorities, and maintains strong partnerships with government and international stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic and Technical Leadership – define technical priorities and strategic plans that expand access to lifesaving services and strengthen routine immunisation systems.
• Program Oversight, Quality, and Integration – monitor field‑level performance, ensure coordinated implementation across partners, and adjust strategies based on risk analysis and evolving context.
• Planning, Budgeting, and Accountability – review, approve and oversee annual work plans and budgets for the secretariat and implementing partners, ensuring coherence and adherence to approved budgets.
• Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning – oversee M&E activities, guarantee data quality, and use evidence to inform strategic and operational decisions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading health programmes, preferably in maternal, child and nutrition sectors.
• Strong technical knowledge of MCHN interventions and integrated health approaches.
• Proven ability to coordinate with ministries, UN agencies, NGOs and other key stakeholders.
• Experience in budgeting, financial oversight and ensuring programme accountability.
• Background in monitoring, evaluation and data‑driven decision‑making.
