Security Specialist (P-3) – Temporary 6‑month role in Dakar

About the role

The Security Specialist (P‑3) will support UNICEF’s Regional Services Division in West and Central Africa from Dakar. Reporting to the Regional Security Advisor, the incumbent will provide security analysis, advice and coordination for programme activities across the region for a six‑month temporary appointment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide security risk analysis, advice and mitigation for UNICEF personnel, premises and operations.
• Support Representatives in fulfilling security duties in line with UN and UNICEF Security Management Systems.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of Security Risk Assessments, Minimum Operating Security Standards, and country‑specific Security Plans.
• Participate in the UN Security Cell, attend SMT/ASMT meetings as an observer, and coordinate with the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and NGO partners.
• Conduct security activities at the duty station and, when required, in other countries of the region.
• Monitor implementation of technical security requirements such as the UN Security Plan, MOSS and Residential Security Measures.

Required profile

• UN P‑3 level professional with at least 5 years of experience in security management, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven experience in conducting security risk assessments and developing security policies.
• Familiarity with the UN Security Management System and UNDSS procedures.
• Ability to work in multicultural environments and travel within the region as needed.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
