Senior Programme Associate (SSA7)

About the role

The Senior Programme Associate (SSA7) will support WFP’s Resilience Programme in Kaolack, Senegal, focusing on reducing post‑harvest losses of millet and creating livelihood opportunities for women and youth.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing and implementing interventions to improve millet drying, de‑hulling and winnowing practices.
• Coordinate with local partners, farmers’ groups and government agencies to promote adoption of improved post‑harvest technologies.
• Collect, analyse and report data on loss rates, marketability and gender‑inclusive outcomes.
• Support capacity‑building workshops and training sessions for beneficiaries.
• Monitor progress against programme targets and contribute to periodic evaluation reports.

Required profile

• University degree in Agriculture, Food Science, Development Studies or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in agricultural programmes, preferably in post‑harvest or food‑security contexts.
• Demonstrated knowledge of millet value chains and gender‑responsive approaches.
• Fluency in French and English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
• Ability to work independently in a challenging field environment.
