Senior Programme Coordinator

About the role

The Senior Programme Coordinator will lead the Integrated Climate Risk Management (AICRM) Programme across seven Sahelian countries. Based in IFAD’s Multi‑Country Office for Sahel in Dakar, the position is a temporary 11‑month assignment focused on enhancing resilience of smallholder farmers and rural communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day programme management, coordinating with country project teams, IFAD divisions, and partner agencies such as Africa Risk Capacity and the World Food Programme.
• Lead the Regional Coordination Unit, ensuring high performance, motivation, and alignment with strategic objectives, budgets, and work plans.
• Oversee quality control and monitoring of each country project, delivering timely progress reports, financial statements, and performance dashboards.
• Identify synergies with related programmes, develop common M&E indicators, and prepare terms of reference for studies and evaluations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with IFAD staff, government officials, civil society, and technical experts to facilitate programme implementation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in programme coordination or management within climate risk, agriculture, or rural development contexts, preferably in the Sahel region.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with the ability to work across multiple countries and organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, produce high‑quality reports, and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
