About the role

The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) is seeking a Database Administrator to join its headquarters in Dakar. The role involves designing, evolving, installing, optimizing and managing the bank's database systems to ensure reliable and secure data operations.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain relational and NoSQL databases.
• Install, configure and upgrade database management systems.
• Participate in database sizing and selection decisions.
• Create and update operational and administration documentation.
• Develop specific tools to support database exploitation.
• Provide second‑level technical support and monitor database event logs.
• Implement database monitoring tools and manage alerts.
• Assess impact of new DBMS versions and prepare upgrade plans.
• Deploy databases according to developer requirements and optimize SQL queries.
• Plan backup strategies and conduct data restoration tests.

Required profile

• Citizen of a UMOA member state, aged 18‑40, with full civil rights and good moral standing.
• Master’s degree (BAC+5) in Computer Science, Networks, Telecom, Information Security or related fields.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in database administration, operating systems, application development, or IT project management within a public administration or reputable private company.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of enterprise information systems architecture and networking.
• Proficiency with relational DBMS such as Oracle, MySQL, SAP SAE, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL.
• Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
• Expertise in SQL query language.
• Ability to write and use Shell scripts on Linux and Windows platforms.
• Understanding of cybersecurity risk analysis techniques.
