Business Development Manager – Steel Trading (Senegal)

About the role

Drive business development across Senegal, identifying lucrative opportunities in the steel sector, with a focus on hot‑rolled coil (HRC), cold‑rolled coil (CRC), galvanized iron (GI), and pre‑painted galvanized iron (PPGI). You will lead the full sales cycle from prospecting to long‑term account management, ensuring growth in a competitive market.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end sales process, including prospecting, technical consultation, contract negotiation, closing, and post‑sale account management.
• Analyse Senegalese market dynamics, import regulations, competitor positioning and demand patterns to craft localized sales strategies.
• Collaborate with supply‑chain, logistics and finance teams to navigate customs processes and guarantee seamless order fulfilment.
• Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with existing clients while aggressively expanding market share to exceed sales targets.
• Represent the company at major trade events and industry associations to boost brand visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of international steel trading experience with a proven import/export track record.
• Excellent negotiation skills, strong commercial acumen and an established network within the Senegalese steel industry.
• Self‑starter able to work independently, comfortable with frequent travel and occasional regional trips.
