Chef for Embassy Residence

About the role

The British Embassy in Dakar seeks a professional Chef to provide high‑quality food and hospitality for the Ambassador’s residence, official events and formal meals. You will work within a small residence team alongside a cleaner and a butler.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and serve meals for embassy events, discussing menus with the events team and the Ambassador.
• Source and purchase both Senegalese and British ingredients, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organization.
• Manage financial and human resources related to food and drinks, including budgeting and overseeing contract staff for large events.
• Support drinks service as needed and contribute to overall hospitality standards.

Required profile

• Professional culinary qualification or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a Chef in a hotel, restaurant, private residence, embassy or similar hospitality environment.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Restaurant‑standard cooking and baking.
• Knowledge of Senegalese produce and sourcing channels.
• Knowledge of British produce and sourcing channels.

What we offer

• Monthly salary of XOF 500,000 plus a transport allowance of XOF 26,000.
• English language training before the start date.
• Annual leave aligned with the Ambassador’s schedule, subject to operational needs.
