Communications and Social Media Specialist (Junior)

About the role

FAO’s Subregional Office for West Africa is looking for a Junior Communications and Social Media Specialist to strengthen its digital presence across 15 countries. The role focuses on creating youth‑friendly, field‑rooted storytelling that showcases FAO’s work in agriculture, nutrition, environment and livelihoods.

Key responsibilities

• Produce short videos, reels, infographics, captions, stories and basic animations for Instagram, Facebook and other platforms.
• Support real‑time storytelling during field missions, events and campaigns.
• Humanise FAO’s impact by highlighting farmers, agri‑entrepreneurs, youth, women and community agents.
• Identify digital trends and formats that resonate with rural and youth audiences in West Africa.
• Translate complex technical and policy messages into clear, accessible digital content while maintaining institutional tone and factual accuracy.
• Collaborate closely with programme, technical and communications teams to ensure credibility and consistency.

Required profile

• Junior‑level professional with a passion for agriculture, food security and digital communication.
• Strong ability to adapt technical information for diverse audiences.
• Excellent written communication in English and sensitivity to cultural contexts.
