Director of Operations – Africa Region

About the role

Wärtsilä Energy is seeking a Director of Operations for the Africa region to lead Agreement Management and Field Service operations. You will shape the operational strategy, drive service growth, and ensure high‑quality delivery for our renewable energy and power‑system solutions across the continent.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans for Agreement Management and Field Service operations in Africa.
• Collaborate with central Energy Services teams to design new services and expand contract offerings.
• Utilise and enhance state‑of‑the‑art tools to improve operational efficiency.
• Own financial, operational and technical performance of agreements and field services, identifying corrective actions and monitoring execution.
• Identify, share, and address customer pain points; proactively upsell services and generate project opportunities.
• Lead customer care throughout agreement lifecycles to secure renewals.
• Build world‑class competence for Field Services and Agreement Management teams, fostering “Wärtsilä super‑user” capabilities.
• Develop local leadership and talent retention strategies across the region.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in operations, field services, or agreement management within the energy sector.
• Strong track record of strategic planning, performance management, and business growth.
• Ability to work across multicultural teams and develop local leadership in Africa.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
