EHS Auditor – Safety Inspection & Compliance (6‑month contract)

About the role

Tangent International is seeking an experienced EHS Auditor to join the team on a 6‑month rolling contract in Dakar. The role focuses on daily safety inspections, hazard identification and ensuring compliance with all EHS procedures across field operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety inspections on site activities and produce detailed reports.
• Verify that all drivers and field resources have completed required training according to the project training matrix.
• Identify unsafe equipment, transportation, and working conditions, report them and follow up until closure.
• Assess potential safety hazards, propose mitigation measures and ensure safe execution of activities.
• Develop and deliver Toolbox Talks (TBT) to promote EHS culture among resources.
• Review onsite checklists, risk assessments, lifting plans, permits to work, vehicle inspections and ensure timely submission of documentation.
• Monitor compliance with approved safety procedures for road safety, work at height, electrical, chemical, fire and crane safety.
• Inspect personal protective equipment (PPE) and OHS tools, report defects and ensure they meet the project tools matrix.
• Act as the primary point of contact for OHS communication with field teams.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience as a Safety Auditor.
• Relevant certifications such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, HIRA, W@H fall‑protection planner, or SACPCMP registration.
• Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and manage permit‑to‑work processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Competence in safety auditing, risk assessment and hazard identification.
