Environmental Specialist Pool (Noise, Air Quality, Soil & Transport)

About the role

ESS Sustainability is seeking experienced environmental specialists to join a consultant pool that supports infrastructure, mining, energy and industrial projects across Africa. You will be deployed on a project‑by‑project basis, working on‑site and remotely to provide technical assessments that enable safe and compliant project approvals.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct baseline environmental monitoring for noise, air quality, soil and transport impacts.
• Design and implement assessment programs, collect field and sensor data, and analyse results.
• Prepare ESIA and ESMP documentation, recommending mitigation measures.
• Perform soil sampling, contamination and erosion analysis, and develop land‑management strategies.
• Carry out traffic and transport impact studies, evaluate road safety and mobility risks, and devise traffic‑management frameworks.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geography, Transport Planning or a related field.
• Proven experience in infrastructure, mining, energy or industrial projects with strong ESIA background.
• Ability to travel for field assignments across Africa.
• Fluency in French or Portuguese is a strong advantage.
