General Manager – Food Production & Distribution

About the role

The General Manager will lead Les Grands Moulins de Dakar, a 24/7 food production and distribution business, reporting to the Regional VP, West Africa. The role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on execution, overseeing a multi‑million‑dollar transformation of the plant to ensure long‑term competitiveness and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the company’s strategic vision, translating long‑term objectives into annual plans, budgets and KPIs.
• Lead financial planning, CAPEX, innovation investments and risk assessments.
• Oversee end‑to‑end operations including milling, port logistics, supply chain and distribution, ensuring reliability, efficiency and product quality.
• Drive a large‑scale capital transformation of the plant while maintaining business continuity.
• Lead commercial strategy, pricing, customer relationships and market expansion.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, tax requirements and corporate governance.
• Build and develop a high‑performing leadership team, manage talent, succession planning and labor relations.
• Represent the company with government entities, regulators, embassies and the Board.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years senior leadership experience in industrial, agri‑food or manufacturing environments.
• Proven track record managing large‑scale operations and capital transformation projects, preferably in emerging markets.
• Strong financial acumen with ability to drive profitability and link strategy to results.
• Experience engaging with Boards, government bodies and senior stakeholders.
• Fluency in French and English.
