Graduate Mechanical Engineer Trainee

About the role

Wärtsilä is looking for a motivated Graduate Mechanical Engineer Trainee to join its BelAir plant in Dakar, Senegal. The programme provides structured training to develop both technical and leadership capabilities required to supervise mechanical maintenance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily mechanical maintenance activities at the plant and assigned teams.
• Monitor equipment, materials, spare parts and tools, ensuring compliance with guidelines and taking corrective actions when needed.
• Execute work according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards and customer site procedures.
• Prepare and submit work reports for all maintenance activities.
• Inspect completed work to verify repairs meet specifications and safety standards.
• Develop and improve maintenance routines and prioritize tasks to meet schedules and targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised Senegalese university with a good academic record.
• Internship or practical exposure to mechanical maintenance is preferred.
• Fluency in English and French.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving abilities and high integrity.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
