Instrument Maintenance Technician (Offshore)

About the role

BP is recruiting Instrument Maintenance Technicians to work on offshore facilities under the North Sea rotational pattern. You will be responsible for the safe upkeep of instrumentation, measurement, control, safety and protection systems while supporting the broader maintenance team.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain instrumentation, measurement and control systems safely and reliably.
• Demonstrate HSE leadership and ensure compliance with all safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Support maintenance planning, record work order information and drive continuous improvement.
• Act as Isolating Authority – safely isolate/de‑isolate equipment and design isolations to standard.
• Act as Performing Authority – create risk assessments, conduct walk‑downs and ensure safe execution of work.
• Close out work orders, clean sites and return unused materials.
• Communicate progress to the Maintenance Team Leader to optimise productivity.

Required profile

• Tertiary or vocational education in a technical field.
• Recognised instrument and control apprenticeship.
• Post‑apprenticeship experience in gas, oil or petrochemical processing plants.
• Experience with PLC, turbine and compressor control systems.
• Experience in LV and utility system isolations.
• Familiarity with field I/O devices, process automation and safety‑instrumented systems.
• Knowledge of fire & gas, metering, analytical, telecom equipment and rotating equipment protection systems.
