Instrument Technician

About the role

The Instrument Technician supports the operation and maintenance of instrumentation, control, and safety systems onboard vessels. The role ensures safe, efficient functioning of all related equipment in line with the required maintenance programme.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain instrumentation, control and safety systems to meet performance and compliance standards.
• Carry out first‑line maintenance, report faults and perform system isolations according to authorisation level.
• Calibrate fire and gas detection systems, conduct routine equipment checks and monitor machinery parameters and alarms.
• Record all maintenance activities in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Promote efficient spare‑parts use, report deficiencies promptly and uphold high housekeeping and safety standards.
• Administer instrument equipment rooms and complete required reporting forms.
• Conduct thorough shift handovers with written and verbal briefings.
• Stop operations immediately if unsafe conditions are identified.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in electrical/electronic discipline or equivalent.
• Recognised certificate in Instrumentation & Control.
• Certificate/proof of competence for work on EX‑certified systems.
• Minimum two years’ experience in control and instrumentation maintenance for process or utility systems in a petrochemical or LNG carrier environment.
• Experience on fixed installations, FPSOs, FSRUs or LNG carriers is desirable.
• Relevant safety training and a valid Medical Certificate for the operating region.
