IT & Data Science Internship – DHIS2 Surveillance & ML

About the role

Join PATH's Epidemic Preparedness and Response program in Dakar as an IT & Data Science Intern. You will support the implementation and maintenance of DHIS2‑based surveillance systems and apply machine‑learning techniques to public‑health data.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation and maintenance of DHIS2 surveillance platforms.
• Collect, clean, validate, and manage surveillance and program datasets.
• Develop scripts and automated workflows for data processing using Python or R.
• Explore machine‑learning approaches for health‑data analysis.
• Build predictive models for trend analysis, outbreak detection, or risk identification.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s degree in IT, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
• Basic understanding of deep‑learning frameworks.
• Knowledge of machine‑learning techniques.
• Proficiency in Python or R.
• Experience with data analysis or digital systems.
• Exposure to machine‑learning or AI projects.
