Officer, Logistics & Procurement

About the role

The IFRC is the world's largest humanitarian network, with 191 member National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Its Dakar office (CRS) is looking for a Logistics & Procurement Officer who will plan, coordinate and manage the logistical operations needed for IFRC/CRS projects, CPCT-MSM and other projects in Dakar or other locations defined by the IFRC. The role guarantees the continuous availability of goods, equipment, services and resources for quality, rapid and dignified humanitarian assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily logistics: analyse needs according to reception capacity and number of migrants, develop supply and replenishment plans, anticipate arrival fluctuations and propose corrective measures for shortages.
• Manage stocks of consumables, kits and essential items: receive and inspect goods, record entries and exits, maintain stock cards, apply FIFO/FEFO, run regular physical inventories, reconcile stock and trigger replenishment requests.
• Procure and acquire goods: consolidate requests, prepare acquisition documents, run tenders, select and contract suppliers, manage framework agreements, monitor orders and verify deliveries.
• Manage food, water and essential services: plan meals and water, monitor consumption, document distributions and report interruptions to essential services.
• Handle distributions: check stock availability, prepare exit slips, coordinate with volunteers and operational teams, reconcile quantities taken out of stock with those distributed, and protect the dignity and confidentiality of beneficiaries.
• Manage fleet and transport: plan transport needs, keep vehicles available, maintain logbooks, track fuel consumption, monitor maintenance and report breakdowns and incidents.
