Process Training Specialist

About the role

The Process Training Specialist will design, deliver and sustain a structured training system for a Sulphide Treatment Plant, including the BIOX process. Working on a FIFO schedule (6 weeks on, 3 weeks off), the specialist ensures operators, technicians and supervisors have the knowledge and practical skills to operate safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain competency‑based training packages for all plant areas (crushing, grinding, flotation, BIOX, CCD, neutralisation, CIL, elution, gold room, reagent handling).
• Deliver classroom, field and on‑the‑job training sessions.
• Assess operator competency through practical and theoretical evaluations and keep training records.
• Create SOPs, work instructions, presentations and assessment tools.
• Coach and mentor staff to improve technical knowledge and operational discipline.
• Identify skill gaps and implement targeted improvement plans.
• Collaborate with Metallurgy, Operations and Maintenance teams to align training with plant needs.
• Monitor training effectiveness via competency assessments, plant performance and observations.
• Develop local trainers and supervisors for a sustainable training system.

Required profile

• Extensive operational experience in sulphide gold processing plants.
• Strong practical knowledge of BIOX operation, microbiology, process control and troubleshooting.
• Experience in flotation, leaching, gold recovery and related unit operations.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver technical training programs.
• Excellent communication, coaching and mentoring abilities.
• Solid understanding of process safety and occupational health requirements.
