Regional Strategy Programme & Influencing Director

About the role

Plan International is seeking a senior leader to steer its strategy, programmes and influencing work across West and Central Africa. Reporting to the Regional Director, you will join the regional core management team and represent the organisation at senior external forums.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the implementation of Plan’s Global Strategy (2022‑2027) in the WACA region, collaborating with country and national offices.
• Lead the multidisciplinary Strategy, Programmes & Influencing department, ensuring high‑quality, gender‑transformative programming.
• Develop and nurture strategic partnerships and coordinate with humanitarian programme leads.
• Represent Plan International in regional and global platforms, working with UN, AU, EU liaison offices.
• Ensure all initiatives increase impact, strengthen legitimacy and improve sustainability.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior strategic leadership within international development or humanitarian sectors.
• Proven ability to influence external stakeholders at senior levels.
• Strong matrix‑working skills across multiple geographic locations.
• Capacity to set priorities aligned with diverse stakeholder interests.
