Research Officer (Senior) – Nigeria focus, based in Dakar

About the role

The (Senior) Research Officer will support IMPACT Initiatives’ REACH programme by leading research cycles that assess humanitarian needs in Nigeria. Based in Dakar with travel to Abuja, the role combines field coordination, data management and stakeholder engagement to produce timely, gender‑sensitive insights for emergency planning.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and oversee research cycles on humanitarian needs in Nigeria, including data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Coordinate with field officers, partners and GIS teams to design gender‑sensitive tools, train enumerators and manage assessment logistics.
• Ensure data quality, storage according to IMPACT’s Data Management Guidelines and validation of findings by HQ.
• Prepare Terms of Reference, monitor progress, report challenges and adapt methodologies as required.

Required profile

• Works under the Research Manager and is hosted by IMPACT or its partner FACT Foundation in Nigeria.
• Responsible for compliance with IMPACT/FACT security, administration, logistics and finance rules.
• Experience in leading multi‑sector humanitarian assessments, especially cash‑based programming and needs assessments.

Required skills

• GIS for data mapping and spatial analysis.
• Data analysis of qualitative and quantitative datasets.
