Resident Coordinator

About the role

The Resident Coordinator (RC) is the highest‑ranking United Nations representative at the country level, responsible for leading the UN Country Team and ensuring coordinated implementation of the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the United Nations at senior government and multi‑stakeholder forums, fostering collaboration with civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners, academia and the private sector.
• Lead and coordinate the UN Country Team to deliver integrated development activities and system‑wide responses aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
• Report annually to the host government on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and to the Secretary‑General on overall UN development system performance.
• Ensure accountability, coherence and effectiveness of UN development programmes through a matrixed dual‑reporting model.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international development, public policy or diplomatic service.
• Deep understanding of the United Nations system, the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.
• Proven ability to engage high‑level government officials and diverse development partners.
• Strong leadership and coordination skills to manage multi‑agency teams.
