Risk & Internal Control Officer

About the role

As a Risk & Internal Control Officer at Wave, you will protect the company’s operations in Senegal by identifying, assessing and mitigating risks across strategic, operational, financial, technological and reputational domains. You will design and implement internal control systems, conduct fraud and process analyses, and help embed a risk‑aware culture throughout the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of Wave’s risk management framework and tailor internal control systems to the local business environment.
• Identify and evaluate risks related to activities, processes, information systems, production tools and external events.
• Conduct risk assessments for new products, features or process changes aligned with the scaling strategy.
• Develop and improve risk identification and prioritisation mechanisms, including protective controls.
• Design and execute preventive and detective controls, monitoring their effectiveness.
• Promote a risk‑aware culture through awareness campaigns, training and documentation.
• Monitor internal reporting and escalation processes to ensure timely detection, investigation and resolution of risk issues.
• Support periodic reporting on risk and internal control matters, including dashboards and incident summaries.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with a learner’s attitude.
• Ability to work independently and support leadership with data‑driven insights.
• Experience in risk assessment, internal control design or related fields is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills to foster risk awareness across departments.
