Sales & Distribution Operations Manager

About the role

The Sales & Distribution Operations Manager will drive performance, efficiency and standardisation across the retail and agent network, merchant channel and back‑office functions for a multi‑market group operating in Africa. Reporting centrally, the role will support five operating markets, ensuring scalable execution, operational excellence and alignment with the group’s strategy while respecting local realities.

Key responsibilities

• Support and optimise the agent and retail distribution network across five markets, defining lifecycle processes such as onboarding, activation, productivity, compliance and retention.
• Build synergy with the telecom partner for shared distribution channels and monitor agent KPIs (activity, liquidity, transaction volumes, churn) to drive improvements.
• Oversee merchant acceptance operations (QR, MPay, wallet payments), managing onboarding, training, activation and issue resolution while tracking merchant KPIs.
• Drive standardisation and improvement of back‑office processes including customer onboarding, KYC, settlement, reconciliation, reporting and exception handling.
• Coordinate group‑level activities between operating companies and central teams, maintain SOPs, track performance through dashboards and support major launches or system changes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Management, Commerce, Marketing, Operations, Business Analytics or a related field.
• 6‑10 years of experience in sales & distribution, operations or channel management, preferably within fintech, telecom, payments or financial services.
• Hands‑on experience managing agent/retail networks and merchant channels, with strong analytical abilities to track KPIs and translate data into actions.
• Proven ability to work across multiple African markets and manage stakeholder relationships.
