Security Specialist (P-3) – Temporary 6‑month role in Dakar

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Security Specialist (P‑3) on a six‑month temporary appointment to support its Regional Services Division in Dakar. Working under the Regional Security Advisor, you will provide security analysis, advice and coordination for UNICEF programmes across the West and Central Africa region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct security risk assessments (SRAs) and develop country‑specific security plans.
• Advise UNICEF Representatives on safety measures for personnel, families and premises.
• Collaborate with the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and other UN security cells.
• Support the implementation of Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS) and Residential Security Measures (RSM).
• Participate in security coordination meetings and act as an observer in SMT/ASMT sessions.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in security risk management within international or humanitarian contexts.
• Familiarity with UN security management systems and policies.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and travel within the region as needed.
